Terms of Use
Last updated: April 2026

By creating an account or using MateRisk, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use MateRisk. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement. Providing a false date of birth to circumvent the age requirement is a violation of these Terms and will result in immediate permanent account termination.

MateRisk is intended for adults who understand the nature of self-reported social platforms and can exercise mature judgment in how they interact with others and interpret content.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@materisk.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Post content that is harassing, threatening, defamatory, or illegal.
  • Post, share, or link to explicit pornographic content of any kind.
  • Post content that depicts, glorifies, or celebrates violence, self-harm, or harm to others.
  • Impersonate another person or create a false identity.
  • Spam, scrape, or automate interactions with the platform.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or systems.
  • Post content that infringes the intellectual property rights of others.
  • Share personal information of others without their consent.
  • Use another person's MateRisk score or assessment results to harass, coerce, or manipulate them.
  • Pressure or attempt to pressure another user into sharing their assessment results.

Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination without notice.

4. The MateRisk Index Score — Important Disclaimers

The MateRisk Index is a self-reported assessment tool. It is provided for informational and social purposes only. It does not constitute professional psychological, clinical, or legal advice of any kind.

Your score is only as accurate as your own self-honesty.

The results you receive reflect only what you chose to answer, and only as honestly as you answered it. People who answer strategically, aspirationally, or dishonestly will receive scores that do not reflect who they actually are. MateRisk has no way to verify honesty. A high score does not guarantee that someone is trustworthy, safe, or compatible with you.

MateRisk scores and compatibility percentages are not a substitute for:

  • Getting to know someone personally over time.
  • Conducting your own due diligence before trusting someone.
  • Professional advice from a qualified therapist, counselor, or legal professional.

You should never rely solely on another person's MateRisk score when making decisions about trust, relationships, employment, or personal safety.

5. Sharing Your Assessment — Know What You're Making Public

MateRisk gives you control over who can see your assessment results. You should understand exactly what happens when you choose to share:

  • Sharing with a specific user gives that individual access to your full category scores and question-level breakdown. They can see how your answers compare to theirs in detail.
  • Making your assessment public makes your full scores visible to every user on the platform. This cannot be undone retroactively for users who have already viewed your profile while it was public.
  • Values score visibility reveals your position on a spectrum that reflects personal values and worldview. Consider carefully whether you are comfortable with this being visible to others before enabling it.

You are never required to share your assessment with anyone. You should only share with people you are communicating with seriously and trust to interpret your results with maturity and good faith.

MateRisk is not responsible for how other users interpret, discuss, or act on assessment results you choose to share.

6. Location — Safety Warning

MateRisk allows you to optionally set your general location (city and state only — your exact coordinates are never stored). This feature exists solely to help calculate approximate distances between users in MateMatch.

If you enable the setting to make your location visible on your profile, your city and state will be displayed publicly to other users. Making your location visible to others may put your personal safety at risk.

  • Only enable location visibility if you are fully comfortable with strangers knowing your general geographic area.
  • Do not share your precise address, workplace, or daily routine with users you do not know well.
  • If you feel unsafe due to unwanted contact from another user based on your location, use the block feature immediately and contact us through the Support page.

MateRisk is not responsible for harm resulting from your choice to make your location visible. Exercise caution and personal judgment before enabling this feature.

7. User Content

You retain ownership of content you post. By posting, you grant MateRisk a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and distribute your content within the platform. You are solely responsible for the content you post.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice. You may delete your own account at any time directly from your account Settings page, or by contacting support.

9. Disclaimers

MateRisk is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, accuracy of user-generated content, or the suitability of any match or compatibility result. No compatibility score, assessment result, or profile on this platform should be treated as a guarantee of any person's character, safety, or suitability for any purpose.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MateRisk and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to harm resulting from trusting another user's assessment results, sharing your own assessment, or making your location visible.

11. Support — We're Here for More Than Technical Issues

The Support page is not just for technical problems. Please reach out if you:

  • Feel unsafe due to another user's behavior on the platform.
  • Are being harassed, threatened, or contacted in a way that makes you uncomfortable.
  • Believe another user is misrepresenting themselves or using the platform to harm others.
  • Want to report content or behavior that violates these Terms but does not fit the standard report categories.
  • Have questions about your privacy, your data, or how your assessment results are stored or used.
  • Need to report a bug, request account help, or have any other concern.

We take all reports seriously. Your safety and well-being matter to us beyond the technical function of the platform.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
